Last updated October 2026: the Meitetsu Bus Center Nagoya is the bus terminal beside Meitetsu Station in the Meieki area, used for highway buses, the airport limousine, and the departure point for Meitetsu Kanko tours. This guide shows you how to find it, which of three bus products you need, and what to confirm before you travel. Redevelopment plans make a same-day check of your boarding point worth the two minutes it takes.

What the Meitetsu Bus Center Is (and Where It Sits)

Meitetsu Bus Center is the bus terminal of Nagoya Railroad, known as Meitetsu, at Nagoya Station. Visitor guides place it next to the Meitetsu Station building, in the Men's Building of Meitetsu Department Store. That puts it in the Meieki district, beside JR Nagoya Station rather than inside it. Travelers use it for three things: long-distance and regional buses, the airport limousine to Chubu Centrair, and sightseeing tours run by Meitetsu Kanko Bus.

The name causes confusion. Meitetsu Station is a train station. The bus center is a separate terminal with its own boarding areas. Confirm routes and boarding points on the official Meitetsu Bus visitor page before you leave your hotel.

Which Meitetsu Bus Do You Need?

Three different products share one address, and each has its own booking rules. Picking the right one first saves you from queuing at the wrong counter.

Good to know

On a one-day Kanko tour, charges begin 10 days before departure, so weigh that against a regular seat's flexibility.

  • Highway or regional bus: a scheduled seat from Nagoya to another city, such as Takayama or Kanazawa. You book a route and a departure time, and you travel on your own.
  • Airport limousine: a bus to Chubu Centrair International Airport. One 2023 visitor guide says it starts on the 3rd floor and calls at hotels in Fushimi and Sakae. Confirm the current floor and stops.
  • Meitetsu Kanko day tour: a sightseeing package with lunch and set stops. It uses a separate reception, booking terms, and cancellation rules.

Destinations and Day-Trip Routes

Regional routes are the main reason travelers use the terminal. One visitor guide lists Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Gujo Hachiman, Kanazawa, and Kyoto among the destinations. Route lists change, so treat that as a starting point and confirm each one on the official timetable. Do not rely on a printed list from an older page.

Takayama and Shirakawa-go work as the classic day-trip pair from Nagoya. Many travelers book a Kanko tour for them, while others buy a regular bus seat and plan their own time. Highway buses suit you if you want to stay overnight in the mountains. Tours suit you if you have one free day and want a fixed loop.

Airport Limousine vs. Train to Chubu Centrair

Chubu Centrair is reached from Nagoya by bus or by Meitetsu's μ-SKY train. A 2023 visitor guide lists the train at 28 minutes, with ¥850 plus a ¥350 μ-ticket, for ¥1,200 in total. The same guide lists the limousine at ¥1,300 and 50 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. Those figures are from a three-year-old page, so confirm both fares on Meitetsu's official site.

The trade-off is mostly about luggage and your starting point. The train is faster and does not depend on road traffic. The bus avoids station stairs and can pick you up at hotels in Fushimi and Sakae, if the current stops still match. A cheaper-looking fare matters less than whether you can carry two suitcases through a station.

Meitetsu Kanko Day Tours: Booking, Seats, Meals, Cancellations

Meitetsu Kanko Bus publishes an FAQ with firm rules, and they affect how you plan. Read it before you pay.

Seat choice is not available. Seats are assigned in booking order, and foreign visitors are generally seated toward the back of the bus. An English-speaking staff member rides along, but this person is not a sightseeing guide. Expect basic information on meeting place and time, plus English and Chinese handouts.

Booking is online, and a credit card is required at booking. Lunch has no alternative menu, so vegetarian, allergy, or religious needs cannot be accommodated. Tours depart only from Nagoya.

Cancellation fees start early. For a one-day tour, charges begin 10 days before departure at 20% of the tour fee. They rise to 30%, 40%, and 50% as the date approaches, and reach 100% after departure. Two-day tours start charging 20 days before departure. Confirm the current table on the Kanko site before booking.

  • Reception: the FAQ places tour check-in on the 4th floor of Meitetsu Bus Center.
  • Changes count as cancellations: any change inside the fee window can trigger a charge.
  • Illness is not an exception: the fee depends on the date, not the reason.

Getting There and Finding Your Gate

Start from JR Nagoya Station and head toward the Meitetsu Station building in the Meieki area. Meitetsu Department Store sits there, and the bus center is beside it. Outside the store stands the Nana-chan statue, a well-known meeting point. Use it as a landmark, not as a boarding point.

Tip

Kanko tour check-in is on the 4th floor, while the airport limousine starts on the 3rd floor. Build that walk into your timing.

Inside, boarding areas are organized by floor and service. The airport limousine and the Kanko tour reception are on different floors, according to the sources above. Look at the departure board, then confirm your floor and gate with staff. Arrive early on your first visit, because wayfinding between two station buildings takes longer with luggage.

If you miss a departure, speak to the counter staff straight away. Policies for tickets differ by product, so ask about alternatives for your specific booking.

Redevelopment: What to Check Before You Travel

Nagoya Railroad has announced a large redevelopment of the Meitetsu Nagoya Station area. A June 2025 report says construction starts in 2027. It also says demolition of buildings in the area, including the bus terminal, begins in 2026. That report says a new bus terminal will sit in a south tower, with the first phase finishing in 2033.

These are plans as announced, and schedules shift. Nothing here confirms where buses will board on your travel date. Check the official Meitetsu Bus page, and look at on-site signs when you arrive. If you hold a ticket, reread the boarding instructions the day before.

Where to Stay Near the Bus Center

Stay near Nagoya Station if you have an early highway bus, a morning tour, or a flight day with the limousine. Pick Fushimi or Sakae if you want evening dining and your airport bus calls there. Our guide to areas to stay in Nagoya compares the districts.

Mistakes to Avoid

Most problems come from small assumptions. Check these before you leave.

  • Confusing the bus center with Meitetsu Station, the train terminal.
  • Assuming a Kanko tour can be changed freely, when fees start 10 days out for one-day tours.
  • Expecting a sightseeing guide on a Kanko tour, when staff only give basic information.
  • Arriving without confirming the boarding floor and gate.
  • Skipping reservations on busy highway routes. Check whether your route requires or recommends one.
